Imperial Oil’s Animal Research Department has produced a new podcast episode featuring researchers sharing their experiences during the pandemic and how it affected their daily work.

The latest episode of the new Imperial podcast series Animal Research @ Imperial: voice from the field during the pandemic, is now online.

Commitment to research

People working at animal research facilities fall under the key worker category, which means they continued to work on site during the pandemic – with strong measures in place to keep them safe. Thanks to their commitment, important scientific work was able to continue.

In the new episode of Animal Research @ Imperial: voice from the field during a pandemic, Amy Wathen, NTCO ​​(Appointed Training and Proficiency Officer) at Imperial, shares her perspective on the importance of her role in animal units and the challenges of working during the pandemic.

Amy said: “I was only able to meet my [work] accountability through the hard work of CAS staff and researchers who were able to stay on site all the time during this exceptional situation ”.

In the first episode of the new podcast series, we heard animal technician Julia talk about her experience of continuing to care for animals despite the challenges of containment.
